This blog post was written by our Hawaii Travel Specialist Rachel Burk. She and her husband have been following the Dave Ramsey method for financial freedom, and she would like to share some tips that she's learned:
During these times of uncertainty, fear is a mongrel. It’s taking the world by storm. We see death, job loss, and so much more everyday while watching the news. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, please, turn off the TV, your social media, or whatever else that’s contributing to your anxiety.
I, along with the LTW Travel Team would like to take a few minutes to spread a little message of security. If you’re still working, you are appreciated more than you know. You’re brave and we are humbled by your dedication to your family and career.
If you’ve been laid off or furloughed, what do you do? How do you pay your bills? The first step is to try and secure some type of way to bring income into your house hold. As unpleasant as it sounds to some, delivering pizzas is easy and a means to an end at the moment. Here is a link to a great article that lists companies that are immediately hiring right now.
The next step is to create and maintain some sort of budget where you’re prioritizing yourself and your family first.
➖Groceries: The number one priority is that your family eat. Cook at home, don’t waste money on take out or delivery.
➖Utilities: Secondly, set aside the money required to keep your utilities working: electricity, gas, and water. You’ll need the A/C to live comfortably, the gas for cooking if you have it, and the water to bathe, drink, etc...
➖Mortgage/Rent: Next, pay your mortgage or rent so you have a roof over your head.
➖Furthering the list, you can prioritize the rest of your bills: vehicles, gas, phones, insurances, etc.
If you’re not working, any debts you have such as credit card debt, personal loans, furniture loans, and so forth are put on the back burner. These are not a priority.
The LTW Travel team will continue to spread informative and helpful information during this time. Our business is heavily dependant upon our beloved clients & dear friends.
